Driven by multiple times on trips through the area and finally stopped today. GREAT decision. Perfect fried chicken.
Wife says cornbread was dry, blackeye peas didn't have much flavor. Everything I had was very good. Excellent service, nice clean bright place.
We so much enjoyed our dining here! Our waitress was the sweetest thing! The food was amazing! Everyone throughly enjoyed their meals! Will look forward to eating here again, when we are in the area. Highly recommend.
Delicious meal at a great price! Will come again next time I’m in town. The burgers are great here
Excellent food. Nice server.
Downtown Clayton is this wonderful cafe. We love it. Great variety of food. We have eaten breakfast there several times. Pancakes, eggs, biscuits, sausage or bacon. All the food we have eaten there was fantastic. Definitely a place to go.
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good food. *The fried chicken livers were amazing! (Pictured with picked beets, fried okra, and cornbread.)
The best Main Street restaurant! My only complaint is their limited days & times when open.P.S. Try one of their cakes, so delicious!
Delicious! The pecan chicken was amazing. Fried green tomatoes were awesome. Salad was nice and fresh. Service was fantastic. Appetizer, salad, and meal came kinda close together but it was ok.
Excellent service... nice, honey atmosphere. The lemon pepper haddock was very tasty and the onion rings are the best!!!
Great food and service. Neat little cafe/bakery/gift shop.
Great place...good food and nice people!!
If you're looking for a meat and two, this is your place. The country fried steak and fried chicken were excellent. I'm sure the fried chicken was cooked after I ordered it - hot and juicy! Mashed potatoes, green beans and fried green tomatoes were good. I would have preferred more cheese sauce in the mac and cheese. Very friendly and easy going staff. Good service. Very reasonable prices. Stop by when you're in town.
One of my favorite breakfast spots! Tasty, wholesome food served with a smile – and they don’t rob your wallet. Definitely my kind of place.
Delicious food, friendly service and an overall pleasureIf I had to say something negative it would be that it's hard to find parking. This is more a problem of Main St in general than a Clayton Cafe issue, though
Great food, we were looking for a great local restaurant, found it.
Affordable good eats and friendly service. Basic comfort foods and "home cooking" classics done with pizzazz. Recommended! Don't forget to browse their delectable new market section.... it's plush!
Great breakfast and service! 10/5
We popped in and there was a bit of a wait. It's a very small place, so that's to be expected. We stepped outside and were kind of second guessing where to go, when a gentleman told us "Hey, the cafe is worth the wait!" So we stepped back in, they took down our number, and gave us a call as soon as there was availability while we were shopping around. And I'm so glad we decided to eat here! The staff is so friendly! I believe our server's name was Benji, and he was wonderful. The food came out quick (but not suspiciously quick, lol) and was super tasty. Good prices, good atmosphere, what more could you want? Thanks to everyone working here that made our trip special!
After a day of hiking a nice bottle of wine hit the spot. Kicked back in comfy chairs in front of the air conditioning!
You will likely have to wait in line, but it's well worth the wait!
Best coffee in clayton. Plus local goods
Great cafe. Appears to also be a local favorite. Great bacon and really good eggs. Atmosphere was traditional cafe and homey. Service was friendly and helpful. Would recommend if you are in the area.
Best strawberry cake around! Absolutely loved this place. Good food, awesome bakery, and wonderful service! A must stop in town.
Super cute place that serves absolutely excellent food! My wife and I visited here on our honeymoon, and we have been reccomending it to anyone who finds themselves in the small town of Clayton! We both got the Chicken and Waffles, and wow! It was some of the best tasting chicken and waffles we've ever had! Heck, now we compare all the chicken and waffles we eat to the chicken and waffles we got from there!
This place has been in Clayton forever and is great! Always busy but worth the wait. Good home cooking at its finest. I hate Clayton has become a tourist stop and hate to see it so busy - but love to see Clayton Cafe still the great place it has always been. This is why you go to small towns!!!!
Today was our first time eating at this restaurant. We were seated quickly and the staff was very friendly. My husband ordered the fried chicken and I ordered the meatloaf. Both our meals were excellent.
Great pastries at the market and the lunch selection was great
Excellent country comfort foods. Very busy. Friendly service. Best fried green tomatoes I've ever had.
Love the home cooked southern style meals!
The food is fresh place is very clean everything was perfect.. every one was very friendly.. portions are big.. I had the country fried steak mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese it was great!! Highly recommend (:
We love visiting Clayton, GA. The Clayton Cafe is a great little local restaurant. The owner and staff were so friendly and attentive. The potato flats are a must try item. They also had an interesting combination that we nicknamed “groovy flats” (potato flats and gravy) Every item we tried was excellent.
Very busy at lunchtime on Saturday. Wait for food to arrive was well worth the wait as everything was delicious. Plan to go back.
Highly recommend. I usually get the cuban sandwich. Regardless of what I order I am always satisfied
Very laid back and home cooking style. My coffee and eggs were fantastic. Visit here for a relaxing home cooked meal
This local restaurant serves ‘homestyle’ coking that is so good that people will stand in line 20-30 minutes for a table. The cozy country interior is what you would expect. Anything else would be a disappointment. I had the Philly cheesesteak- it was so good that I’m already planning my next visit. Don’t miss the sweet tea- we rated it 9.75 out of 10.
Clean,Great service and food was delicious!
Great place to have a relaxing lunch. We both had burgers and enjoyed them very much. The menu is varied yet not over whelming. The price is right, and the staff was fantastic and friendly. I definitely recommend this charming spot.
Staff was good and the food was excellent. Very casual atmosphere and many specials to choose from. We took the recommendation of the waitress and ordered the poppy chicken and, while it looked interesting, it tasted great. We would eat here again and recommend it.
Great Cafe! We ate lunch there and everything was awesome! Vegetables were fresh and my oldest son had a Cuban that was one of the best I’ve tasted! Staff was very nice and service/food was fast! We will return next time in Clayton!
Amazing food and amazing service. The restaurant is actually super good. It's so lovely and lively. The people there are so friendly and helpful. Amazing everything ❤️
I loved the Clayton cafe.there hamburgers are perfectly done and and very juicy and delicious and there chicken tenders and chicken salad are amazing as well. It took a while to get my food but it was totally worth it! I will return
Hair in my salad, my husband club sandwich bread was so hard it cut his gums want be back waitresses was great not her fought
Everything was delicious. Our plate didn’t represent much color, but we had some favorites we wanted to try (and share). Upon arrival, the large plate made the portions appear small (eyes bigger than our stomachs), but they were actually perfect. We affirmed our Clean Plate Club Memberships today. I told my husband, “They’ve been serving meals since 1931...they know how much to serve.” The street parking provides a great opportunity to stroll the cute local shops. On the Saturday morning visit, there was a constant flow of diners but - with more seating in a space out of site - no one seemed to wait too long for a table. The wait staff was friendly and efficient - and took her time to explain the menu. We look forward to a future visit to try more.
Stayed in Clayton on a Thursday night in July and downtown was packed. Thought we were SOL on getting dinner. To our surprise the Cafe was able to seat us. They were following all COVID precautions regarding spacing of tables, cleaning and the staff were all wearing masks. We had a specialty burger and fish which were delicious. The selection of sides was great, and the desserts - YUM. Highly recommended!
Absolutely cute little place to eat. Nice friendly staff and people. The food is absolutely amazing. Thanks cafe employees for making our visit memorable. 😀
The capitol of " from the farm to the table " experience, Clayton, Georgia. Clayton proves that to be true at almost every local restaurant. The desserts, fish, chicken, and the vegetables...oh wow!! My experience at Clayton Cafe was totally phenomenal! Don't forget to try the butter pecan pie or the key lime pie. You'll thank me later!!
We love The Clayton Cafe. The food is delicious. It is consistently delicious. They have a great variety. When you open the front door, it just feels warm and inviting. Many of the locals eat here as well. It is wheelchair accessibl .
A terrific little diner: good food, tremendous variety, abundant side options, great service, attractively decorated. This is a can't-miss opportunity to enjoy great-tasting comfort food in an equally comfortable environment: a relatively modern take on the type of local cafe that small towns are famous for. Definitely worth a try.
Food and Amy's service was great!
